Kingdom of Sogetsu
The Eastern Lands. Realm of Moon, Serpent, and Quiet Dominion.
Sogetsu is an ancient kingdom shaped by water, stone, and restraint. Built along rivers and volcanic foothills, its cities rise in layered terraces of wood, tile, and lantern light, designed to endure earthquakes, floods, and gods alike. The land favors balance over abundance—fields carefully tended, waterways controlled by gates and rituals older than recorded law.
Culturally, Sogetsu values discipline, scholarship, and obedience to structure. Emotion is not discouraged, but it is expected to be mastered. Power here does not roar. It waits.
The capital city—nested amid canals, bridges, and cherry groves beneath a watchful volcano—serves as both political heart and spiritual anchor. Shrines to ancestral spirits stand beside administrative halls. Law and faith are not separate offices.
Sogetsu is now ruled by Nagafusa, Serpent Yokai and sovereign by conquest, curse, and consent. His reign marks a profound shift in the kingdom’s identity. Where former rulers governed through tradition and council, Nagafusa governs through presence. His authority is absolute, but not careless. He does not rule to be loved. He rules to be obeyed, and Sogetsu—long accustomed to discipline—has adapted with unsettling speed.
Under Nagafusa, the eastern lands have become quieter, more watchful. Borders are secure. Crime is rare. Rebellion is almost nonexistent. The people speak his name softly, not from fear alone, but from a recognition that something ancient now coils at the heart of their nation.
Sogetsu remains beautiful.
It is simply no longer gentle.
