Volume V: The Sea

 The Sea of Elyndra

The Singing Veil of Idera

“When the gods first looked upon the void and longed for reflection, they breathed upon it — and it became the Sea of Elyndra.”
— Fragment from the Song of Creation, verse VII

Mythic Chronicle

The Sea of Elyndra was born from the breath of the Primordial Goddess, who sought to divide the heavens from the earth without sundering them. Her exhalation carried both light and shadow — the shimmer of day and the echo of night — and so Elyndra was formed: a living mirror that binds the mortal realm to its divine reflection.

It is said that each tide bears memory — waves that rise when gods dream, and recede when mortals forget. To look upon Elyndra beneath a full moon is to see not one’s face, but one’s fate, drifting like a constellation just out of reach.

When Umbra and Daichi crossed its northern arm, the sea calmed for the first time in an age, whispering their names in twin tongues. Mariners still swear that the moon’s reflection bends toward them when they speak of her.

Field Scholar’s Record

Elyndra encircles the continent of Edrathis entirely, a vast ocean of variable temperament and impossible depth. Its waters appear silver-blue by daylight, yet glow faintly violet beneath moonlight — a phenomenon attributed to luminous plankton and residual divine resonance.

Major currents trace the Pillars of Creation, suggesting a metaphysical alignment:

  • The Northern Flow carries cold winds from the glaciers.
  • The Western Bloom is rich in spiritual energy and sea flora.
  • The Southern Abyss, depths untouched, rumored to conceal ancient leviathans.
  • The Eastern Drift, calm and circular, where the stars reflect perfectly even when the sky is overcast.

Sailors claim Elyndra “hears” prayers — voices carry unnaturally far across its surface. For this reason, naval battles are rare; the sea punishes echoes of violence with storms.

— Lysander’s Note:

“I have charted her coasts for decades, and still, I feel her watching me — patient, kind, and terribly old. The sea remembers what the land forgets. If ever the gods return, it will not be from the heavens… but from beneath the silver waves of Elyndra.”

Hidden within the Sea: The Isle of Kareth’Mor

(The Fifth Pillar — The Breath of Worlds)

(Full mythic, field, and Lysander notes exactly as we established.)

And beneath the final line of Lysander’s note —

“If ever the Pillars fail, may the sea remember the way back.”

— appears a single embossed sigil, drawn in pale gold ink barely visible against the parchment:

𓂀 Sigil of Kareth’Mor — A spiral of breath and wave encircled by a ring of moonlight.

𓂀 Sigil of Kareth’Mor — A spiral of breath and wave encircled by a ring of moonlight.
(Its ink glimmers faintly, vanishing when viewed directly.)

— In the margin, written in Lysander’s smaller hand:

“The sea dreamt again last night. I think it still moves.”

🜂 On the Preservation of Memory

(A final entry in the hand of Archivist Lysander of Sutra, found among the Codex’s blank leaves.)

“All stories end where remembrance begins.

In Idera, nothing truly dies — not gods, not kings, not the echoes between two heartbeats.
For memory is the last and most faithful kingdom,
and those who tend it wield power beyond crown or spell.

Umbra walks between the living and the divine,
Tau reigns in the silence between battles,
and even now, the quill bleeds quietly for both.

So long as ink flows, Idera endures.”

— Lysander of Sutra, Keeper of the Codex, Year of the Returning Wolf
