Legend of the Relic no Daiisan

The First Song

Before mountains wore crowns of snow.

Before rivers learned their names.

Before the stars found their places in the heavens.

There was only Silence.

Not darkness.

Not light.

Only Silence.

From that Silence came two voices.

The first voice sang of shape, order, and beauty.

The second voice laughed and shattered every boundary the first created.

The elders call them Aelthar and Elyria.

The Weaver and the Wild.

Creation and Chaos.

Some say they were gods.

Others claim they were the first dream and the first nightmare.

No one knows.

Yet all agree on one truth:

Neither could create alone.

Aelthar wove mountains of crystal and gold.

Elyria shattered them into valleys and rivers.

Aelthar painted stars across the heavens.

Elyria scattered them into constellations.

Aelthar gave the world form.

Elyria gave it life.

And where their powers met, the Primordial Lands were born.

A land where harmony and chaos would forever dance together.

Neither victorious.

Neither defeated.

Only balanced.

Yet balance comes at a cost.

As the ages passed, the two great powers grew weary.

The skies dimmed.

The rivers slowed.

The world began to fade.

Seeing their creation falter, Aelthar and Elyria surrendered a portion of their divine essence and cast it into the dying heavens.

For seven days and seven nights, the flame fell.

On the eighth day, it opened its eyes.

Thus was born the Golden Phoenix.

Its feathers blazed brighter than dawn.

Its cry awakened sleeping forests.

Its wings scattered seeds across the world.

Where a feather touched earth, flowers bloomed.

Where a tear touched stone, rivers formed.

Where its shadow passed, life followed.

The Phoenix was not a creature.

It was a promise.

That no ending would remain an ending forever.

That all things lost would someday return.

And from the fire trailing behind its wings came five sparks that ascended into the heavens.

These became the Five Stars.

Kaelun, the Star of Renewal.

Meyara, the Star of Passion.

Thalios, the Star of Wisdom.

Ravokh, the Star of Strength.

Zalira, the Hidden Star, Keeper of Mysteries.

The old priests teach that when all five stars stand together in the sky, the Phoenix remembers its first flight.

And for a single night, destiny itself may be rewritten.

Yet every age births its monsters.

Among the first Yokai arose one whose hunger knew no limit.

Voryn the Devourer.

His name is still spoken softly, for fear the mountains might remember him.

He looked upon the Golden Phoenix and saw not salvation.

He saw power.

He sought to consume its flame and make himself master of creation and chaos alike.

Thus began the Crimson Sundering.

For ten years, the heavens bled.

The moon turned red.

The forests burned.

The oceans boiled.

The Cosmos Tree blackened beneath celestial fire.

The Yokai Lords marched to war.

And at the end of all things, the Phoenix chose sacrifice over victory.

It gave its life so the world might keep its own.

Its body burned away.

Its essence scattered across the Primordial Lands like golden rain.

Some say every field of wildflowers still carries fragments of that sacrifice.

Others say the Phoenix never truly died.

Only sleeps.

Waiting.

For the world to need it once more.

It is from this sacrifice that the legend of the Relic no Daiisan was born.

For the Phoenix swore that it would never abandon the world entirely.

Instead, fragments of its divine flame would awaken within a chosen soul.

Not every age.

Not every generation.

Only when balance trembles.

Only when darkness grows too bold.

Only when renewal becomes necessary.

Many believe Bella carries that flame now.

Whether blessing or burden, only the stars know.

For all things move in cycles.

The rising sun.

The changing seasons.

Life.

Death.

Love.

Loss.

Even the gods themselves are bound to the turning of the wheel.

And so the oldest prophecy of the Primordial Lands remains unchanged:

When creation forgets chaos.

When chaos forgets creation.

When the stars gather, and the Phoenix sings once more.

The world shall stand upon the edge of ending.

And rebirth.
