Nagafusa

ENTITY FILE: NAGAFUSA
Classification: Cursed Wanderer / Masked Revenant
Status: Unbound
Known Titles: The Wolf-Skulled Blade, The Unfinished Oath, Ash-Bearer of the Forgotten Road

Nagafusa is not a man one meets.

He is a presence that arrives—quiet as snowfall, heavy as a grave left unmarked.

Once, he had a face. Once, he had a name spoken with warmth, a place at a fire, a future that did not taste like iron and ash. Those things are gone now. Stripped from him not by time, but by the curse that clings to his bones like a second skin.

What remains is something… altered.

He walks the world draped in weather-worn traveling robes, layered in dust and memory. The fabric hangs from him like a shroud that refuses to fall away, whispering with every step. Beneath it, his body carries the tension of something not entirely human—muscle coiled too tight, movements too precise, like a blade that never dulls, only waits.

But it is the mask that defines him.

A wolf skull, bleached pale and bound to his face, its hollow eyes staring where his own once lived. It does not shift. It does not lift. It has become him. The jaw rests just slightly parted, as if it might speak—but when Nagafusa’s voice comes, it slips through like wind through bone. Low. Worn. Dangerous in its restraint.

No one knows if the skull was chosen… or forced.

His hands betray him most.

Clawed. Not fully beast, not fully man. Fingers ending in dark, sharpened edges that flex when he is still, as if something beneath his skin is always trying to surface. He keeps them hidden when he can. When he cannot, they speak for him—violence, precision, inevitability.

And then there is the air around him.

Cold, even in summer. Heavy, even in open fields. The kind of silence that follows him is not empty—it listens. Animals avoid him. Spirits do not. Some say they gather at his back, drawn to the fracture in his soul where the curse took root.

Because Nagafusa is not merely cursed.

He is unfinished.

Bound to an oath no one living remembers. Chased by something he cannot outrun. Every step he takes is not wandering—it is searching. For what, he does not say. Perhaps he cannot.

But those who have seen him in battle speak of a different truth.

The moment steel is drawn… the curse breathes.

His movements sharpen into something feral, beautiful in the way storms are beautiful—terrible, unstoppable. The wolf reveals itself not in form, but in instinct. He does not hesitate. He does not falter. And when it ends, he stands alone again… as if nothing inside him had just awakened.

That is the cruelest part of Nagafusa.

He is not lost.

He is aware of every step, every breath, every life his hands take. The curse did not steal his mind.

It left him with it.

Archivist’s Note:
If you see a lone traveler with a wolf’s skull for a face—
do not call out.

If he stops walking…

it means he has already decided what you are.
