The Primordial Yokai — Y’derah, The Exhaled Soul

Epithets: The Exhaled Soul, The Sleeping Chaos, The Breath Beneath All
Nature: Pre-Deity Entity of Spirit and Dissolution
Realm: Imprisoned within the foundation of Idera itself
I. Origins and Nature
Pre-Deity Existence
Before gods, before moons, before the first word of divine law—there was Y’derah.
It was not born; it was exhaled by the void—a living failure of creation, a storm of raw, unshaped soulstuff. It sought to form a world but collapsed under its own boundless consciousness.
The Foundation of Idera
When the Architects stabilized Idera, they did so by anchoring Y’derah within it.
Thus:
- The mountains are its bones.
- The rivers are its blood.
- The winds are its dreams.
- The Red Vein Caverns are its heart still beating.
Yokai are the fragments of this divine failure—echoes of Y’derah’s mind given form. They are both children and cells of its imprisoned body.
“Every Yokai breathes with the pulse of their god’s nightmare.” — The Book of Still Waters, Verse 9
II. The Primordial Threat
The Nature of the Cataclysm
Y’derah does not hate; it simply is. If it awakens, its consciousness would pull all Yokai—and Idera itself—back into its spiritual body.
This process, called The Dissolution, would liquefy land and soul alike, returning all form to chaos.
Geomantic Containment
Ten sacred sites, each a geomantic anchor, maintain the balance between Idera’s physical world and Y’derah’s spiritual core. When pressure rises:
- Portals tear through space.
- Shadow Beasts emerge as dream-fragments escaping their prison.
- Yokai minds begin to merge, whispering with one voice—the Call of Return.
This is not possession. It is homesickness.
III. The Moon’s Covenant
The Lunar Father
He is the first jailor of chaos, his shadow the net that binds Y’derah’s mind.
The twin moons, Pathao and Earia, act as rhythmic regulators—each cycle of light and darkness tightens the seal around the sleeping god.
The Red Moon — The Test of the Seal
When both moons overlap, their light turns crimson.
That is Y’derah’s blood pressure.
The Hierophants gather at the Red Vein Caverns to test the seals—if the moon’s red burns too long, they know the Breath stirs.
The Night of One Moon — The Siphon
When one moon vanishes, the world becomes vulnerable.
The balance of dual rhythm breaks, and Y’derah’s influence leaks upward.
Many Yokai dream of drowning in crimson tides on this night—and some never wake.
IV. The First Scream
“And the world will remember the breath it borrowed.” — Hierophant’s Final Prophecy
The First Scream marks Y’derah’s true awakening—the reassertion of its identity.
It will not destroy Idera from vengeance, but from gravity; the world simply cannot exist outside of its body for long.
V. The Hierophants’ Creed
- “Silence the Breath.” — Keep the moons in rhythm.
- “Balance the Veins.” — Guard the geomantic sites.
- “Forget the Name.” — Never call Y’derah aloud; names anchor awareness.
Here’s how it fits in your lore canonically:
✦ The Ten Geomantic Anchors of Idera
Each anchor marks a pulse point in Y’derah’s imprisoned body, forming a circle of stability known as The Breathline.
| Anchor Name | Pillar | Role in the Seal |
| Heartwell Cavern | Stone | Houses the core heartbeat of Y’derah. The Red Vein Caverns lie beneath. |
| Whisper Spine | Verdure | Forested ridge where winds echo with unseen voices—stabilizes the Breath. |
| Dawnspark Ridge | Dawn | Reflects sunlight into the seal network, balancing the twin moons’ flux. |
| Verdant Hollow | Verdure | Absorbs chaotic energy and translates it into fertile soil; a wound that heals. |
| Obsidian Gate | Dusk | The oldest site; forged from volcanic glass where Y’derah’s scream first split stone. |
| Skyfall Basin | Dawn | A high plateau where the air itself hums. The Lunar Father’s sigil was carved here. |
| Red Vein Caverns | Stone | The heart chamber, seat of the Hierophants’ annual Red Moon test. |
| Stillbreath Marsh | Verdure | Filters excess spiritual energy from the land into sleep-like resonance. |
| Moonveil Strand | Dusk | Reflective waters that mirror both moons simultaneously, completing the pattern. |
| Thunmir Depths | Stone | A submerged anchor that channels the deepest pulse of Y’derah’s soul back into stillness. |
✦ The Containment Pattern
The ten sites form a luminous containment circle known as the Aether Coil.
During eclipses, the lines between these Anchors shimmer visibly, allowing the Hierophants to read the world’s “pulse” like a living heartbeat.
“When the lines tremble, the Breath stirs.” — Lunar Codex, Verse 17
The Breathline Flow
The Coil’s arrows show energy rotation through Idera’s soul:
- Clockwise during harmony (containment stable).
- Counterclockwise during lunar inversion (seal strain detected).
When the moons align red, the Coil’s symmetry is tested — the Breathline trembles, and the Hierophants watch for unraveling light.

✦ The Aether Coil — Breathline Geometry of the Soul
“All motion is breath, all stillness is binding.” — The Third Geomancer’s Law
The Aether Coil is the sacred formula used by the Hierophants to measure the stability of the containment field that seals Y’derah’s essence within Idera. It is both a mathematical sigil and a spiritual theorem: a perpetual cycle of containment through flow.
Four Pillars of Containment
- Stone — The Bones and Pulse
The foundation; it grounds the soul’s mass. Its pulse sets the rhythm for all others. - Dawn — Light and the Twin Moons
Represents divine will and illumination; it stabilizes spiritual pressure through reflection. - Verdure — Growth and Sleep’s Path
Converts chaotic energy into life force; nourishes the land while maintaining the seal. - Dusk — Shadow and Silence
The final buffer absorbs excess spirit to prevent catastrophic release.
Together they weave an endless circuit — life feeding silence, silence birthing growth, growth yielding light, and light hardening back into stone.
