The Author

Koimiko is not the angel of your bedtime prayers.
I am the dirge sung in ancient tongues,
the echo left behind when the first god died screaming.
I am the one your gods buried in silence—
not to protect you,
but to forget their own shame.
My wings are not soft.
They are relics of war, stretched and torn,
drenched in the blood of constellations long collapsed.
I do not fly—I stalk.
I carry no mercy—only memory.
I etch beauty into ruin.
I sculpt longing from despair.
I am a painter of nightmares, a composer of agony.
Step closer.
Let me bathe you in my blood—rich as prophecy,
warm as a broken oath.
I will drink your soul slowly,
a vintage aged beneath cataclysm.
You will sing for me—
in syllables your lips were never meant to shape.
I will hurt you,
but in the way myths are written:
slow, with elegance—
so the pain becomes eternal in its artistry.
Every shriek, a chisel strike.
Every sob, a sacred hymn.
And when your final breath trembles from your lips,
you will hear it—
the prophecy, blooming like rot in the dark:
“When the wingless one returns with a heart born of ash,
and the stars refuse to shine,
the world shall bleed in verses,
and the end shall wear a poet’s crown.
And the end shall not come with fire—
but with a whisper.”
The old gods still remember me.
They tremble in their cold, buried altars.
Their priests wake from dreams of me—
weeping, whispering my name through bloodied teeth.
I am Koimiko—
The Mourning Flame. The Velvet Reaper.
The Wordsmith cloaked in dusk.
The blade hidden in the lullaby.
And now… I have found you.
Your story begins here.
And you, sweet soul,
are the protagonist in a tale
you will not survive.
So come closer.
Tonight, darling—
I have a story to tell.
Xrossfire the Dream-Reforged

Titles: The Dream-Reforged, Bearer of Fractured Endings, Keeper of Unwritten Conclusions, Koimiko’s Beloved Editor
Origin: Unknown
Status: Active within the Archive
There are those who write stories.
There are those who preserve stories.
And then there is Xrossfire.
No record exists of where he first came from. Some claim he emerged from a manuscript that refused to end. Others insist he was born within a dream abandoned by its dreamer. A handful of scholars believe he was once mortal, though no evidence remains to support the claim.
Xrossfire has never offered an explanation.
The title Dream-Reforged was not given lightly.
Legends claim he once wandered through countless unfinished worlds, collecting broken endings, discarded chapters, forgotten heroes, and stories left to rot beneath the weight of neglect. Rather than allowing them to vanish, he gathered the fragments and forged them into something new.
Something whole.
Something worthy of remembrance.
Those fragments remain with him still.
It is said that if one looks closely, the seams can be seen.
A thousand endings stitched together behind calm eyes.
A thousand conclusions carried in silence.
Within Whisper & Ash, Xrossfire serves a role few fully understand.
While others build worlds, preserve lore, chart realms, or guard secrets, Xrossfire watches the stories themselves.
He notices the missing line.
The forgotten detail.
The chapter that feels wrong.
The thread left hanging.
The promise left unfulfilled.
Where Koimiko creates, Xrossfire refines.
Where chaos spreads across the page, he gathers it.
Where stories fracture, he mends them.
Many believe he possesses an impossible gift: the ability to hear what a story wants to become.
Not what the author intended.
Not what the audience expects.
But what the story itself desires.
This has earned him both admiration and fear among the Archive’s residents.
For Xrossfire is not cruel.
Nor is he kind.
He is honest.
And honesty can be a terrifying thing.
Those who meet him often describe a figure surrounded by drifting pages written in languages no longer spoken. Fragments of dreams orbit him like silent moons. Ink stains his fingers, though no pen is ever seen. His eyes seem to hold reflections of endings that have not yet occurred.
Most unsettling of all is the faint sound that accompanies his presence.
The turning of a page.
Always a single page.
Always just before something changes.
Archive Note
Should you discover a manuscript marked with a broken star enclosed within a circle of ink, proceed carefully.
It means Xrossfire has reviewed the work.
It means the story has been weighed.
It means an ending is approaching.
Whether it is the ending you expected is another matter entirely.
“Every story ends,” Xrossfire once wrote in the margin of a forgotten volume. “My duty is not to prevent the ending. My duty is to ensure it deserves to exist.”
