Grimoire of the Moonwalker 2

Bound in ancient blue dragonhide, the Grimoire of the Moonwalker is a tome whispered about in both reverence and fear. Its cover, cool to the touch and unnervingly smooth, bears the branded sigil of the Second Lord of the Moonwalker Clan—a silver wolf’s head, exquisitely detailed, eyes set with twin jewels: one the color of a clear blue sky, the other pale as ghostlight.
When the two moons rise, it’s said those eyes awaken—glowing faintly, as if watching, remembering.
No hinge nor clasp binds the book shut, and yet it will not open for outsiders. Its secrets belong only to the true blood of the House of the Moon, and even then, only to those the tome deems worthy. It is said to know the hands that seek it—smelling out lies and ambition like a hunting wolf.
Within its ageless pages lies more than knowledge—it holds legacy:
- Spells older than the empire, once called down by wolfkin howling beneath the celestial tides.
- Rites of ascension, blood-binding rituals, and forbidden ceremonies long abandoned by the modern world.
- Languages that have no name anymore, their sounds half-syllables and moonlight, lost to extinction but still inked in silver thread across the parchment.
- Theories of celestial chaos, alignments between moons, earth, spirit, and soul.
Scholars have claimed the book hums with a low growl when it’s opened in moonlight. Others say it breathes when it’s sleeping.
Only one thing is certain:
The Grimoire of the Moonwalker is not just a book.
It is a memory, a guardian, and a warning.
And those who dare open it unbidden may find it reading them instead.
“Rite of Aetherium Alignment”
(Fifth Leaf of the Second Lord’s Hand – Marked under the Sign of the Dueling Moons)
Only in trial may a soul find balance. Only in silence may truth echo without distortion.
To those who would claim the path beside a Moonwalker Lord—not as servant, nor shield, but equal—this rite shall test the marrow of their being.
The chosen must undergo the Alignment of Aetherium: spirit to spirit, chaos to silence, will to will.
Required Conditions:
- The Rite must be performed under dual moonrise, with the blue and white moons both visible in the sky.
- A blade from the House must be placed between the two, point down in sacred soil, to bind the offering and witness the rite.
- The chosen must be without weapon, voice, or aid.
- The sponsor must offer a piece of their reikai—a single drop of soul fire—to awaken the alignment.
The Trial of Echoing Silence:
Let the chosen be cast into the Grove of Whispers.
Let them be bound not by rope, but by memory.
For one night and one day, they must endure without voice, weapon, or guidance.
Spirits of the wild will come, drawn by the scent of awakening. Some to test. Some to teach. Some to break.
If the chosen listens, the Grove will speak. If they fight with only spirit, the Grove will judge.
At Dawn, Upon Success:
The Blade shall hum.
The Moon shall wane.
For one turning of the moon, the soul-fire of sponsor and chosen shall resonate as one song. And only treachery or the stillness of death may sever what the moons have witnessed.
From that moment forward, they may be named Aetherbound.
No tongue need speak.
No bloodline need match.
No voice need rise above another’s.
Only balance. Only soul. Only worth.
Historical Note (annotated in Daichi’s handwriting):
“Umbra passed the rite in silence, but not in surrender. The Grove stilled for her. The spirits dared not speak over her presence. She made no sound, no plea… only purpose. She did not fight. She endured. She listened. She saw me. I saw her.”
— Daichi of the West, Heir of the Moonwalker Line
The Rite of Lunal Accord
Rare. Forbidden by some. Forgotten by most. This rite is performed only under the alignment of the Twin Moons, when the white and blue are at their zenith—crossing over the sky like mirrored eyes of ancient gods. It is said this ceremony does not just bind blades, but weaves the souls of the wielders into a single harmonic thread across space and time.
Performed only between two warriors of mutual mastery and unshakable intent, the Rite of Lunal Accord makes their weapons resonate with one another—alive with shared magic. The magic is not from the moons—but the moons simply reveal what already exists between them.
The Moonwalker Resonance — Shared Blade Power
When both blades—the Warblade and the Blessed Blade of the Moonwalker—are drawn within a certain range (or when the wielders are emotionally synchronized), their latent enchantment activates:
Moonlink Surge
The two blades pulse with shared lunar energy. When one blade strikes, the other vibrates with mirrored force. If Daichi slashes and connects, Umbra’s dagger will glow briefly—For a single heartbeat, the second blade shall remember the first strike, passing unhindered through steel, spell, and flesh alike.
Twin Howl
If both wielders are in combat simultaneously and their blades are drawn, the wolf engravings on each blade howl in unison—releasing a shockwave of sound only heard by the enemy. The minds of foes shall wander from certainty, and spoken sorceries shall falter upon trembling tongues. Some say it can even interrupt lies.
Echoing Bond
If one bearer falls unconscious or is mortally wounded, the other feels the pain like a ghostly stab—brief but intense—and gains a surge of magical energy to fight their way to them. During this moment, their speed and reaction time increase drastically, and their blade gains a faint glow of both moons.
Bonus Detail: The Secret Sigil
Under moonlight and only moonlight, a hidden sigil appears when the blades are crossed again—a wolf head split in two halves: one silver, one sapphire. When reunited blade to blade, it completes itself—and howls faintly. Some believe this is not just magic… but the beginning of an ancient pact yet to fully awaken.
