LÍNGUA INCRÉATA
The Language of the Unformed

Some languages are created.

Some evolve.

Lingua Increata was neither.

No scholar can identify its point of origin. No kingdom claims it. No surviving empire records its creation. The oldest known examples appear carved into bone older than the cities built around them, etched into burial stones whose dead possess no names, no histories, and no place in any accepted chronology.

The language is known among archivists as Lingua Increata—the Language of the Unformed.

The name itself is controversial.

Some believe it means a language that was never created.

Others insist it means a language still being created.

Both interpretations are considered equally dangerous.

Throughout history, fragments of Lingua Increata have surfaced wherever love and violence become impossible to separate. Kings whispered it to queens before battle. Wolves carried its echoes through forgotten forests. Bones recovered from ancient graves bear phrases no living tongue should recognize, yet somehow do.

Those who study the language report unusual phenomena.

Words appear where none existed before.

Translations change.

Meanings deepen.

Entire passages seem to rewrite themselves according to the reader.

Most unsettling of all is the language’s apparent fixation on possession, devotion, bloodlines, sovereignty, memory, and fate.

Certain phrases occur repeatedly across centuries:

“Pertinent ad me.”
You belong to me.

“Veni ad me.”
Come to me.

“Tibi soli.”
To thee alone.

Scholars debate whether these are declarations of love, commands, prayers, or warnings.

No consensus exists.

The language possesses no known word for ownership in the traditional sense. Instead, its grammar suggests a more intimate and unsettling concept: two souls becoming so entangled that separation ceases to have meaning.

Many texts also reference wolves.

Not merely animals.

Witnesses.

Judges.

Keepers of old promises.

In some surviving fragments, the title Lupus Dominus—Wolf Lord—appears beside monarchs, lovers, executioners, and gods with equal frequency.

This has led some archivists to a disturbing conclusion.

Lingua Increata may not be describing relationships.

It may be recording them.

Every vow.

Every betrayal.

Every declaration spoken within the language appears to leave a mark behind.

Not on parchment.

Not on stone.

But upon the people themselves.

For this reason, the Archives of Whisper & Ash classify Lingua Increata as a Living Language.

Not because people still speak it.

Because it has never stopped listening.
