Kage

Kage is the son of Lord Reno and heir to one of the major wolf bloodlines within yokai society. Raised within strict territorial expectations and noble hierarchy, Kage was taught from birth to value loyalty, strength, and reputation above personal feeling.

Unfortunately for everyone around him—

he loved the wrong person for that kind of life.

Luna Sano

Before distance.

Before rumors.

Before politics turned poisonous—

Kage and Luna Sano were close.

Not loudly.

Not dramatically.

But genuinely.

Kage was one of the few people who treated Luna normally during her younger years. He spoke to her even when she rarely answered. Sat beside her when others avoided her silence. Accepted her strange quietness without demanding explanations for it.

And Luna—

trusted him.

Which was rare enough to matter.

The Separation

That trust did not survive adulthood untouched.

As Rasan’s influence spread through noble circles, suspicion toward Luna grew stronger. Rumors twisted her silence into secrecy and her power into danger. Eventually those whispers reached Kage’s father, Reno.

And Reno listened.

Caught between:

  • loyalty to his father
  • pressure from his territory
  • and his connection to Luna

Kage began pulling away.

Slowly at first.

Then completely.

He stopped speaking to her.

Stopped standing beside her.

Stopped defending her.

And Luna—

never asked him to stay.

Personality

Kage is quieter than most wolves of noble birth, more thoughtful than aggressive. Though fully capable of violence, he dislikes conflict driven purely by pride and has always struggled with the rigid expectations placed upon him.

He is:

  • loyal to a fault
  • emotionally conflicted
  • protective by instinct
  • deeply burdened by duty

Unfortunately, duty and love rarely survive together cleanly.

Relationship with Tyr Moon

Kage’s growing distance from Luna indirectly placed him at odds with Tyr Moon, who stepped into the emotional space Kage abandoned.

Though neither openly declares hostility, tension exists between them:

  • Kage represents what Luna lost
  • Tyr represents what stayed

And both understand this perfectly.

Relationship with Luna Now

Kage still watches Luna.

Still notices when she enters rooms.

Still looks for her voice even when she says nothing.

But he no longer believes he has the right to stand beside her.

Because somewhere along the way—

he became another person who left.

And unlike others, Kage knows exactly what that cost her.

The Truth About Kage

People often assume Kage betrayed Luna because he stopped caring.

The truth is worse.

He cared too much—

and lacked the strength to stand against the world for her.

That failure haunts him more than anyone realizes.

Final Note

Kage is not the villain of Luna’s story.

He is something sadder.

He is the boy who almost chose her—

and has to live every day knowing he didn’t.
